What is Knative?
- run stateless workloads such as microservices
- event subscription, delivery and handling
on Kubernetes clusters.
Knative is implemented as a set of controllers you install on your Kubernetes cluster. Knative registers its own API types to Kubernetes API, so it's not too different than Kubernetes.
Knative consists of two separate projects:
Knative Serving: Run stateless services easier on Kubernetes, by making autoscaling, networking and rollouts easier. (Main focus of this guide.) Read how Knative makes running microservices apps on Kubernetes easier →
Knative Eventing: Declaratively create subscriptions to event sources, and route events to Kubernetes endpoints in the cluster.
You can choose to use one or both in your cluster.
